Introduction
Oak Tree Farm sits in the very heart of Warwickshire and specialises in the natural rearing of traditional rare breed pigs. We farm old-fashioned breeds of pigs in the old-fashioned way to produce a taste of yesteryear. Our sows run outside all year round and the piglets are born and reared free range. All our Pigs are produced in welfare friendly systems. Piglets stay with their mothers for longer and are grown slowly to maturity to produce pork with a traditional taste and flavour.
Help Save our Native Breeds
In Britain we still have more different breeds of pig than any other European country. More than half of these breeds are at risk of extinction. The only way to ensure a sustainable future for our native breeds is to use them, which means eating them. When you buy pedigree pork you get fantastic tasting meat and you also help to guarantee the future of our unique genetic heritage for generations to come. Our pig feed is specially prepared by a local miller and additionally they receive daily treats of apples, pears, melons, pineapples, plums, grapes etc donated from the many visitors that come to Oak Tree Pig Farm. We cure our own hams and make our own sausages and our new speciality the sweet chilly pork burgers. But, it is what we don’t do that is most important. We don’t use any growth promoters or drugs in our pig feed. We let the pigs grow at their own natural speed, which is very slow with our rare breeds. All our sausages and pork burgers are made from shoulder pork. No nasty bits, no gristle and very little fat. We produce the highest quality British pork products. We do not use unnecessary chemicals, additives, artificial colours or flavourings, or preservatives. Our pigs are allowed to develop and grow slowly in the belief that quality of life leads to a better quality of pork. This is field to plate by the most direct route, shouldn't all things be this way?
